Oh boy, what a day it was…
At first, I have to rush to college to attend my workshop class at 9:00 AM from Butterworth to Penang. Then, I have to start doing my electronic circuitry project by first of all cutting the UV PCB board. Since I have trouble using a saw, so in the end I had to ask Jun Kiang to help me out of this. He made a nice cut though not very perfect but at least better than Jason’s work.
The next part is quite tricky since we never had any experience on exposing an UV PCB before thus we use the first board as a guinea pig. Things go terribly wrong when we think the PCB didn’t gone through any exposure on the UV machine and this had made us make another exposure on the same board again for another 500 seconds.
Sadly, in the end we found out that we need to apply developer fluid on the exposed PCB even though nothing seems to appear on the exposed PCB itself. Oh well, who cares about that anyway because like I just said before. This is just an experiment. As we proceed to the development process, we had to figure it out the correct ratio between the developer fluid and water and we make a mess out of it. Alvin first tried to agitate the PCB using only his bare hand and what he got is irritation from the fluid. He heads to wash his hand A.S.A.P. (By the way, Alvin mentioned that the developer fluid had some sort of skin moisturizing effect…)
Then, it was my turn and I got to tell you something, don’t dip your hand on the developer fluid kids, you don’t want to try this at home because it makes your hand feel very weird indeed since it is a poisonous substance.
Then we etched the board and since the board had already sucked so we just played around with the ferric chloride and we found out that if you put a big chunk of ferric chloride into water, it renders cool smokes… cool!
Anyway, our study time ended with the boring history lesson where most of us almost fall asleep… Zzz…
Following up, the gang and I went to Gurney plaza to find some suitable magazine article for our language project. It took us a heck of time to find a suitable article with the minimum requirement of 1800 words. Everything feels comfortable after we found our article since we thought that we will never found one but we did eventually.
We had our dinner at McDonald’s later on and went back home…
